The Tribe Hotel in Nairobi was transformed into a glamorous haven as stylish guests gathered to celebrate Champagne Day in honor of Moët & Chandon's 280th anniversary. The event, which took place on 27 October, showcased not only the Maison's exceptional winemaking but also its commitment to sustainability.
Moët & Chandon, renowned for its exceptional winemaking and savoir-faire, has long been an advocate for sustainability. The Champagne Day festivities brought together Friends of the House from various African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and South Africa, who raised their glasses in tribute to the Maison's iconic wines.
Guests arrived at the Tribe Hotel at precisely 17:43, symbolizing the year 1743 when Moët & Chandon was established in Epernay, France. As the clock struck 20:23, toasts were made, commemorating the Maison's milestone 280th anniversary. The event was a testament to the enduring qualities of Moët & Chandon and the tradition of marking significant moments with champagne.
The celebration featured a lineup of distinguished hosts, including Nigerian actress and humanitarian Osas Ighodaro, Kenyan media personality Anita Nderu, award-winning South African actress Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, Cameroonian model and entrepreneur Fredy Manyongo, as well as Delali Damessi from Ivory Coast, Lydia Laryea from Ghana, and Tanzania's George Williams. These hosts had the privilege of sharing their firsthand experiences of visiting Epernay, where they witnessed the annual harvest and explored the Maison's progressive agroecology program, Natura Nostra.
Aimee Kellen, Head of Consumer Engagement for Moët Hennessy Africa and the Middle East, emphasized the significance of Champagne Day in communicating the Maison's sustainability efforts. "In this most memorable of celebrations, connections were honored between our past and the present, with Moët & Chandon as timeless and modern today as it has always been," she said.
