The highly anticipated Hub of Africa Addis Fashion Week (HAFW) is set to dazzle from January 9-14, 2024, at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa, ETMetro gallery, and Kana Warehouse. This annual international showcase has been a cornerstone in propelling African fashion onto the global stage since its inception in 2010.
In a notable turn, Kenya's intellectual property (IP) lawyer, Liz Lenjo, is poised to share insights on "How to secure intellectual property rights in the fashion business" during a panel discussion on Wednesday, January 10, at the Hyatt Regency. Joining her is Udochi Nwogu, the founder of Building Africa Fashion.
Simultaneously, the renowned Ann McCreath, Kenya's veteran fashion designer, will be taking the spotlight at the same venue. Teaming up with Ethiopia's Ministry of Industry, Genet Kebede, and Mahlet Afework, McCreath will delve into the intricacies of "Fashion Manufacturing in Africa."
The diverse programs for this year's event encompass runway shows, installations, workshops, panel discussions, fashion storytelling, a pop-up marketplace, and more. Designers from various African countries, including Kenya, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Ethiopia, will contribute to making the Hub of Africa Addis Fashion Week a dynamic and inclusive platform for the thriving African fashion industry.
As the anticipation builds, HAFW 2024 promises not only a celebration of fashion but also a rich tapestry of discussions, insights, and collaborations that will further propel African fashion onto the global stage.
