Fire Tragedy Strikes Textile Warehouse in Embakasi

A massive explosion and fire broke out late Thursday night near the Mradi area of Embakasi, engulfing a textile warehouse and causing immense destruction.

According to government statements, the initial blast occurred around 11:30PM at a lorry carrying gas cylinders, triggering a raging fireball that rapidly spread. A flying cylinder struck the Oriental Godown warehouse facility, burning it to the ground.

The Oriental Godown warehouse stored garments and textiles, resulting in huge losses of inventory. The resulting blaze also ravaged neighboring small businesses and vehicles. Tragically, residential buildings were also affected, claiming the lives of at least two victims so far.
